They're such beautiful trees!! I don't know that I've ever seen any in California - do they grow here? We just planted a jacaranda in hopes for some beautiful blooms like the crapemyrtles get - our old house here had a camellia tree/bush that had amazing blooms, I might have to plant one of those in our current yard.

Crapemyrtles are beautiful and yes, they grow in California. UC Davis I believe has some in their gardens. Watch for flowering that begins sometime in June. I grew a number of the large variety, Natchez with white flowers in my former garden. For a good outcome, measure the space you have in mind to add a crapemyrtle, then choose a variety that fits that space size. This will ensure it remains low-maintenance and you can enjoy it a long time. Let me know if you need help choosing a crapemyrtle. Jacaranda are on my list - have never seen one in person.
